“Look, there’s a cloche – hooray! twenty points already.” Who knew peeping into people’s gardens could be so enjoyable? This is the first of the colour titles which seems closer to the regular range in content, with all sorts of garden features and tools (many of which are now quite vintage) to look out for. And on page one? “Fun with the marrow” Probably published in 1955, the title was dropped for the 1962 Dickens rebranding, so is not as easy to find as some. It was the last of the News Chronicle colour books.
