Great Yarmouth poster

This just turned up during a tidy up of folders. It was a speculative design after I had been asked to participate at the conference, but which quickly hit a brick wall of local authority indifference! The background image taken in the town reflected the huge crowds which often gathered in many seaside locations up to the 1960s, tinted and layered to provide a strong background. The woman with the trumpet was also an image with strong local connections, used by a local photographers to decorate their print wallets for many years. The basic text was done in a strong sans serif font, and space left in the central area for further information to be added. I was really pleased with the result but the conference organisers didn’t have any imagination.

Nor were they able to guarantee projection equipment would work with my Macbook. Given I was having to travel a fair distance, I was going to stay over with my partner and she would help on the day in case of issues. “In that case, she will have to buy herself a ticket” came the response. In that case you can stick it came my reply. “But we have printed the programme” they pointed out. That’s your problem was the gist of my response to that; if you are so mean spirited as to charge me entrance for a plus 1 then end of. I did hear later that the event was not well attended and they had been giving away tickets locally.
