Snaps Of Bridlington

walking pictures snaps bridlington

Exhibition of photographs based on vintage Walking Pictures taken in Bridlington between 1920 and 1950, along with some original postcards and interpretive panels about Walking Pictures.
From the early C20 holiday makers would find themselves snapped by photographers offering souvenir postcards, which could be collected the following day from kiosks. These informal portraits, often taken unawares, are now a fascinating document of social status and fashions.
Designed and put together by Simon Robinson this exhibition was on display at Sewerby Hall, near Bridlington, East Yorkshire throughout the summer of 2011.
An online gallery of some of the images (one is shown below) is available on the Walking Pictures site.

AVAILABILITY : for hire. The material was fairly specific to the locality but similar images for many other coastal towns are available and can be substituted, while a general display of these photographs can also be adapted.
