The football world cup in June 2010 inspired this shop-keeper in Glossop, Derbyshire, to go all out in his attempts to sell merchandise decorated with the England flag. He explained to me that he’d been getting started at seven am each morning to start the mammoth display, which had to be taken down again each evening. Sadly for him the day after these photographs were taken, England got knocked out of the tournament by Germany. The merchandise doubtless boxed up again for the next big patriotic occasion… I took him a print to remind him of his efforts.
