Stylophone

The Stylophone was a huge deal when it launched in 1967, and was the first example of a printed circuit or electronic keyboard most people came across. It was always intended to be a fun novelty toy although a few musicians also took it up (including The Small Faces). Production closed in 1975 but it was relaunched in 2007, since when it has been developed using modern circuitry into a number of variations, and even a David Bowie limited edition. This example shown is one of the very early boxes which housed the all white plastic Treble version. Rolf Harris was the face and sound of the instrument for many years, and some versions as here came with a 7″ EP demonstrating the instrument. Wisely he has not been rehired.
