Cola carriers

Food manufacturers won’t change their wasteful packaging unless you force them to.
Back in the sixties, you took six individual Coca Cola bottles off the shelf, picked up a flat pack cardboard carrier and assembled it (amazingly there is a modern version of the idea on the shelves of Waitrose right now). The glass can be recycled (there was usually a deposit on the bottles as well – something the makers campaigned to have removed), and so can the cardboard. Job done. “Return bottles in this carrier” it says on the side, if we could do it then why not now?
Although for people interested in old packaging, it’s nice that these two somehow escaped landfill at the time, and still look good (and work) today, especially the gold, red and white one which I would think is the more modern of the two designs.
