Yes kiddies, mugs used to be valued. And sold in boxes! Not shipped over from China to be piled up on the shelves of John Lewis (who ought to know better but don’t). Probably from the early sixties, though still plenty of the fifties in the on-pack drawing and in the blocks of colour. The box still has one of those old fashioned ‘greeting’ stickers on the base. An unwanted Christmas gift stowed in a kitchen cupboard for years.
