Vintage Sheffield 78s

sheffield record shops display 2012

This exhibition was staged on The Moor, a main shopping street in Sheffield. It comprised a number of original pre and post war 78 rpm sleeves from dozens of the long-lost Sheffield record shops. The sleeves were mounted to wooden squares, themselves fixed to the stud wall. Along with these, a number of framed prints were hung, and a printed banner displaying many plastic bags from later record shops (the originals being too fragile to display).

The exhibition was covered in both local papers, also on the radio, and proved very popular with passers by. It was up from late 2012 to early 2013. More about this display can be found at the ST33 site.

AVAILABILITY : this display was very local to Sheffield so only really suitable for the local area, but could be restaged and altered according to any requirements.
