“I-Spy Sport will take you to fields and pitches.. everywhere that sportsmen meet for the glory of the game.” The different sports would give good scope for most children, especially as many of them would be done at school. The illustrations for this title are a little sketchier than normal, I quite like them but as Big-Chief I-Spy had them all redrawn for the second edition it looks as if he wasn’t so keen! The cover was also redone, by Kingsley Sutton, one of the few to feature a woman on the front (and much better drawn than the first). Curiously this title did not survive the demise of The News Chronicle and was dropped from the 1961 reissues. Interestingly the first edition was a fund raiser, with The News Chronicle donating the profits from the title to an appeal to help send the England team to the Empire Games in Vancouver in August 1954.
